From words to action – in record time.
The first steps of cooperation under the Memorandum signed between the Association “Airports of Ukraine” of civil aviation (AAUCA) and Vienna International Airport have already been implemented.
Globally recognized aviation media have published information about this event.
As noted by the AAUCA President during the signing of the actual agreement on the transfer of special equipment to Ukrainian airports as a donation for the rapid restoration of air transportation: “Many Memorandums are signed, but the conditions set out in them are not always fulfilled.”

Vienna Airport supports Ukrainian airports: five special-purpose vehicles handed over during delegation visit
To support Ukrainian airports, Vienna International Airport and the Association “Airports of Ukraine” of civil aviation (AAUCA) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in spring 2025. By the end of August, five special-purpose vehicles were officially handed over to the Ukrainian side during a delegation visit to Vienna.
We were looking forward to the time when the special equipment would arrive in Kyiv for further transfer to the airlines. Today, the specialists of ANTONOV, who are responsible for maintenance of the airfield and adjacent territories in operational condition, were the first to receive keys to the complex, universal special machine MULTIHOG MX 120.
The agreement was signed by Artur Hordienko, President of the Charitable Fund “Help and Support,” Petro Lypovenko, President of AAUCA, and Mr. Julian Jäger, joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport. This initiative highlights Vienna Airport’s clear commitment to supporting the Ukrainian aviation sector in challenging times and contributing with expertise to its future recovery.
We are very grateful to Artur Gordienko for his help in processing and transporting this charitable aid from our friends at Vienna International Airport.
Vienna Airport has provided two vehicles for de-icing treatment, two multifunctional airside vehicles, and one Unimog utility vehicle.
In addition, from August 26 to 28, professional meetings took place focusing on ground handling, safety, passenger services, and operational processes.
“The situation for Ukrainian airports due to the war is extremely difficult: many facilities are damaged, the airspace for civil aviation has been closed since 24.02.22, and the aviation activity of Ukrainian aviation enterprises has been suspended. At the same time, airports are already preparing for the restoration of infrastructure and the resumption of regular flights after the end of the war. We, as Vienna Airport, want to help them in these preparations,” — said Julian Jäger.
“This support from Vienna Airport is of great value to our airports. The urgently needed equipment and knowledge exchange with our Austrian colleagues help us prepare for the future and restore safe, efficient, and passenger-oriented operations in Ukraine as soon as possible,” emphasized Petro Lypovenko.
Cooperation agreement between Vienna Airport and AAUCA.
The cooperation focuses on knowledge exchange, identifying synergies, and exploring potential future joint projects. In addition, Vienna Airport provides special vehicles and technical equipment to AAUCA member airports to further strengthen their operational infrastructure.
Vienna Airport is already positioned as a strong transport and logistics hub between East and West for Austria’s economy. With its involvement in Kosice Airport, located only 100 km from the Ukrainian border, Vienna Airport is also successfully active in the immediate neighborhood of Ukraine.
We eagerly awaited the moment when the special equipment would arrive in Kyiv for further transfer to aviation enterprises. Today, the specialists of JSC ANTONOV, who are responsible for maintaining the airfield and adjacent areas in operational condition, were the first to receive the keys to the comprehensive, universal special vehicle MULTIHOG MX 120.
The aviation community of Ukraine is infinitely grateful to the management and all employees of Vienna Airport for their understanding, support, and assistance to the aviation industry of Ukraine in such a difficult period for us. We are also sincerely grateful to Artur Hordiienko for his help in arranging and transporting this charitable aid from our friends at Vienna International Airport.
