Who cares about the inhabitants of the city and the region he restores the transport infrastructure, in our case it is the airport
One of such socio-economic enterprises in the industrial region, which has a population of about 4 million is KP "Zaporizhzhya International Airport" - a member of the Association "Airports of Ukraine" CA (AAUCA) since its inception in 1992.
AAUCA was established to promote the development and modernization of airports and airlines in Ukraine, to protect their interests, to promote them on the world market. Today, AAUCA members are 95 enterprises and organizations from 15 countries, including 21 airports in Ukraine, UkSATSE, Ukraine, Antonov and other leading enterprises in the industry. Since 2014, AAUCA has been a full member of the ACI Europe Council.
The management of the Association "Airports of Ukraine" CA (AAUTSA) visited KP "MA" Zaporozhye "and got acquainted with the state of affairs on the commissioning of a new terminal complex for passenger service and infrastructure facilities of the airport.
It is safe to say that where the city authorities and the airport are interested in the functioning of such an important socio-economic enterprise as the airport, it will be updated, modernized, meeting all world standards.
And this will promote the arrival of new airlines, the opening of flights to new destinations, increase passenger traffic - all for the convenience and comfort of residents of the region, and they will appreciate it in the upcoming local elections.
Despite the programs and plans of the Central Executive Bodies (CEBs) to provide funding for the rehabilitation of airport infrastructure, the Zaporizhzhya community has received virtually nothing.
The City Council and its management have come to the conclusion that since the roads and Ukrzaliznytsia do not meet any requirements, river transport is not functioning, the airport should be. A number of decisions were made to finance the construction of a new airport complex, reconstruction of aerodrome surfaces (runway, roadway, apron), installation of new modern light and radio navigation systems at its own expense and the city budget, this allowed to increase the specific strength of aerodrome by 8 units, reduce the meteorological minimum for takeoff and landing of aircraft to ICAO category I indicators (30 * 400m)
Already today, airlines operating flights to and from Zaporozhye airport are ready to increase their frequency, new airlines are negotiating their opening, including low-cost airlines.
With joy and confidence, General Director Oleksiy Dubrevsky showed and told about the work that has already been done and is planned to be done, including the installation of approach lights, landing systems from the second year, complete renovation of the aerodrome perimeter fence with video surveillance and alarm systems, installation of 2 aircraft bridges near the new terminal, widening of the platform near the new terminal and construction of new infrastructure facilities.
We hope that in accordance with the established tradition of AAUCA, at the end of May 2020, the 6th International Aviation Forum "Aerocongres 2020" will be held in the new terminal. This was confirmed by Mayor Volodymyr Buryak at a meeting with AAUCA President Petro Lipovenko, where the issue of the future concession of the restored, profitable airport was discussed among others.
Based on the circumstances under whose funds it was done, I want to say that they decide what model, form of ownership and management to adopt, because for 30 years in Ukraine there is no specific strategic vision on this issue, and what exists today has nothing common with world practice.
The International Aviation Forum "Aerocongress 2020" will once again show the importance of such a social object as an airport for the residents of the region, which is an incentive for investment, operational communication, highly professional and highly paid jobs for the population.
